Description

OpenForêt is an independent company created in 2015 by three partners. Its mission is to provide relevant and multi-scale information on natural ecosystems, their sustainability, their vulnerability and their carbon contribution to enable all territorial stakeholders to make decisions respecting natural balances. OpenForêt is incubated by IGNFab, supported by the European EIT-Kic_Climate program and collaborates with public reference establishments (INRAE, IGN, MNHN etc…) but also private and associative experts (WWF etc…). OpenForêt collects, analyzes, structures, makes reliable, spatializes, updates data, practices big data processing, artificial intelligence and algorithms. OFTerritoire is the Saas platform which provides information on land use, sustainable management, carbon stock and sequestration and the biodiversity of natural ecosystems in a multi-scale manner, making it possible to take stock of the situation and monitor it from the tree level up to that of local authorities. The OFT PCAET project aims to develop a pilot at the scale of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region which complements the existing OFTerritoire platform with relevant, homogeneous and up-to-date information on natural ecosystems at the scale of municipalities, communities of municipalities and the region within the framework of the PCAET (carbon neutrality by 2050). This pilot integrates elements on the vulnerability of ecosystems (knowledge of the main endangered animal species), on their adaptation to climate change according to IPCC scenarios (change in the probability of occurrence of forest species and agricultural crops under +2°C or +4°C) and also makes it possible to make long-term projections of carbon storage in forests according to different types of silviculture (from intensive management to total preservation). This information is accessible on the OFTerritoire platform to establish and monitor the results of the implementation of the PCAET. The OFT PCAET project was born from a discussion with Dreal Nouvelle Aquitaine which reported the absence of relevant, homogeneous and up-to-date information on the natural ecosystems of their communities of municipalities subject to the PCAET. This project therefore aims to respond to this to allow the Communities of Municipalities, the Regions and the State to have reliable information and to monitor action plans over time.
