Stephanie Amoako is a senior policy associate at Accountability Counsel, a global organization that works with communities around the world to defend their environmental and human rights through direct case support, policy advocacy, and research. Stephanie Amoako joined the Policy Advocacy program in 2016. Previously, she worked as a law fellow at the Public International Law & Policy Group in Washington, D.C. supporting civil society groups advocating for inclusive transitional justice mechanisms in South Sudan as well as supporting the creation of alternative justice mechanisms related to disputes from the 2007 – 2008 post-election violence in Kenya. Stephanie has also worked with the Research Center on Labor Relations and Inequality in São Paulo, Brazil to advocate against discrimination towards Afro-Brazilians and worked in the Maldives with UNDP to promote social cohesion and peacebuilding ahead the highly contested 2013 presidential elections. She earned a J.D. and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, an LL.M in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam, and a bachelor’s degree in International Comparative Studies from Duke University. Stephanie is a member of the New York State Bar.
