For nearly 45 years, volunteers, educators and trainers of the Association des Chiens Guides d'Aveugles d'Île-de-France have been working hand in hand to improve the autonomy and mobility of visually impaired people. The association's field of action extends over the Ile-de-France region.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN MISSIONS OF THE GUIDE DOGS OF ÎLE-DE-FRANCE?
Within the Guide Dogs of the Blind of Ile-de-France, our teams, both salaried and volunteers, work together on three main missions:
- To train and give guide dogs to visually impaired people,
- To ensure the training of the visually impaired person (locomotion, training course) and the follow-up of the team (master & guide dog),
- Informing and sensitizing the public to the visual handicap.
The education and follow-up of a guide dog are long and expensive processes: they last about 10 years and cost 25 000 euros. This amount includes care, medical examinations, the education program, follow-up and feeding. However, we want to ensure that all our guide dogs are given to visually impaired people free of charge.
